Meet Janelle Compton: a powerhouse real estate entrepreneur, dynamic educator, business strategist, and transformational leader whose mission is simple — empower people, elevate businesses, and create opportunities that change lives.

With more than 21 years as a licensed real estate professional, 15 years as a broker, and 24 years as a real estate investor, Janelle has built a career defined by leadership, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.

From Dallas–Fort Worth to Houston

Originally from the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Janelle relocated to Houston to pursue a coaching opportunity. In 2019, she took a bold entrepreneurial leap, opening her own real estate brokerage and growing it to 85 agents. In May 2023, she transitioned her team to eXp Realty, where her leadership journey continued. By September 2024, she had earned the position of Managing Broker for eXp Realty's Coastal Region.

But Janelle has never been one to settle for success when she sees an opportunity to create a greater impact.

Modern Agent Institute

In 2025, she made the intentional decision to step away from corporate brokerage leadership to focus on her next major venture: Modern Agent Institute, which she founded as Texas's first Black woman-owned full-service real estate school.

Modern Agent Institute was created to do more than prepare students to pass a licensing exam. It was designed to bridge the gap between real estate education and real-world business success. Through innovative instruction, powerful exam preparation, practical business training, and comprehensive post-licensing support, Janelle is redefining what real estate education can look like.

Her vision extends beyond traditional students. Modern Agent Institute creates educational pathways for high school students, agents seeking to renew or advance their licenses, aspiring team leaders, future brokers, formerly incarcerated individuals, and individuals with special needs who can benefit from accessible, career-focused education.

Modern Agent Collective Group (MAC)

Janelle is also the visionary behind Modern Agent Collective Group (MAC), where she helps real estate professionals develop the systems, accountability, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial mindset they need to build sustainable businesses.

Teacher, leader, connector

A TREC-certified instructor and education provider, Janelle previously shared her expertise at Champions School of Real Estate (2018–2022), METROTEX, and other industry organizations. Her teaching style blends practical experience, contagious energy, humor, and the kind of honest accountability that challenges people to move beyond their comfort zones.

Her leadership and commitment to the real estate community also earned her a seat on the Houston Black Real Estate Association (HBREA) Board of Directors in 2026.

Beyond business, Janelle's greatest gift is her ability to connect with people, recognize potential they may not yet see in themselves, and provide the insight, encouragement, and hope needed to move forward.
